Sumou must be Offensive Sumou, however it must be so completely, without reservation.

This is only possible if it is completely pauseless. You must go on the offensive without giving the opponent any chance to recoup.

Pausing in the middle of the Shoubu is a common occurrence in Keiko where a Rikishi pauses to take a rest when he believes he's fighting a stronger opponent. This is the worst thing to do in a Shoubu.

On day 5 of Kyuushuu Basho Takanowaka fought Kotooushuu and paused a number of times during the Shoubu because he didn't believe he had enough Power to finish him off right away. As an outcome Kotooushuu could prepare for his forward drive which was clear must come and managed to turn Takanowaka around at the Tawara and push him out.

Pauseless Sumou is a necessary prerequisite to Winning via Offensive Sumou.
